BACKGROUND



David Craig was born in 1902 outside Glasgow in Scotland into a family of 10. His father was a saved coalminer. David Craig got concerned about salvation at the age of 12 after overhearing discussion between his father and an elder from the assembly about the coming of the Lord. He realised he was not ready. His sister was also concerned and got saved that night. Realising he needed saved as well, he knelt down in the middle of the floor, grabbed his mothers apron, and accepted Christ as his Saviour. He told his mother at that time "Here and now I am trusting the Lord Jesus Christ as the one who died for me on Calvary".

At the age of 16 he got baptised and came into fellowship at the assembly in Bellshill. At this time he started to preach the gospel.He was also active in the weekly tract band cycling miles to give out tracts in the surrounding districts.

He followed his father into the mining industry and saw some saved. One of these invited David to visit Ahoghill where his family lived in 1926. David Craig stayed, got employment in Cullybackey and preached the gospel in the evenings. He was commended in 1929 and, in his own words "stepped out giving spirit soul and body to the work of Christ" seeing many souls saved. He laboured around County Fermanagh having 22 series of tent meetings along with many other series of gospel meetings in other buildings. God blessed and the souls saved formed the assemblies in Enniskillen and Ballinamallard. He made two trips to Europe and five to the United States and Canada. His health declined in later years but this led to him writing two very beautiful books "The Coat of Many Colours" on the life of Joseph and "That Wondrous Name" on the titles of the Lord Jesus Christ. He passed into the presence of the Saviour in 1977. This CD is a sample of some of his preaching both in ministry and the gospel he was so fond of.
